Last updated

This policy explains how we, Anjoman Foods, collect and use personal information through this website, and what your rights are. We are the controller of that information under UK data protection law, which includes the UK GDPR and the Data Protection Act 2018.

Who we are and how to contact us

Anjoman Foods, 7 Insignia Park, Luton Road, Dunstable LU5 4LW, United Kingdom. For any question about this policy or your personal information, contact us:

What we collect and why

When you send us a message

The contact form asks for your name, your email address and your message. When you send it, the website passes these to our email inbox so that our team can reply to you, and sends a short email to the address you gave to confirm that your message has arrived. The form also contains a hidden field that people never see, used only to catch automated spam.

If you email or phone us directly, for example about stocking our products, becoming a distributor or working with us, we receive the details you choose to give us, such as your name, contact details, business details and anything you send with your message.

We use this information to answer you, to discuss stocking or distributing our products, to set up and run trade accounts and to consider you for a role if you have asked about working with us. Our lawful basis is our legitimate interest in responding to enquiries and running our business and, where you ask about becoming a customer or joining our team, taking steps at your request before entering into a contract with you.

When you sign up to our newsletter

If you enter your email address in the newsletter form, we add it to our mailing list, together with the date you signed up, so that we can send you news about our products, trade offers and recipes, about once a month. We send one email straight away to confirm the sign-up. Our lawful basis is your consent. You can unsubscribe at any time, by following the instructions in any newsletter or by emailing us, and we will take you off the list.

Keeping the website secure

Like any website, our server receives your IP address and basic technical details about your browser and device when you load a page. We use the IP address to limit how many messages can be sent through the contact and newsletter forms in a short time, which protects them from abuse, and our hosting server may record these details in technical logs used for security and troubleshooting. Our lawful basis is our legitimate interest in keeping the website secure and working.

Finding a stockist

The store locator shows a map and can search for shops near a postcode. The map images are loaded from OpenStreetMap, and a postcode you type is looked up with postcodes.io, a free UK postcode service, so that it can be placed on the map. Both requests go straight from your browser to those services, which receive your IP address and, in the case of postcodes.io, the postcode you entered. We do not receive or keep the postcode.

Analytics and cookies

We use Google Analytics to understand which parts of the website people find useful, for example which pages are visited and how visitors arrive. On your first visit, a notice asks whether you accept analytics cookies.

  • If you choose Accept, Google Analytics sets cookies named _ga and _ga_ followed by an ID. They last for up to two years and let it recognise repeat visits.
  • Until you accept, or if you choose Decline, no analytics cookies are set. Google Analytics still receives limited information about each page view, such as the page address, the time and general browser and device details, without any cookie that recognises you from one visit to the next.

Our lawful basis for analytics cookies is your consent. For the limited measurement without cookies, it is our legitimate interest in understanding how the website is used. Your choice is remembered in your browser’s local storage under the name anjoman.consent. To change your mind, clear this website’s stored data in your browser settings and the notice will appear again on your next visit.

We do not use advertising cookies. Staff who sign in to the website’s administration area receive a sign-in cookie that is strictly necessary for that purpose; it is never set for visitors to the public pages. We do not sell your personal information and we do not use it for automated decision-making.

Who we share it with

We use a small number of service providers who handle personal information on our behalf and under our instructions:

  • Contabo, which provides the server this website runs on
  • Resend, which delivers contact form messages to our inbox and the emails confirming your message or sign-up
  • Microsoft, which hosts our email through Microsoft 365
  • Google, which provides Google Analytics

OpenStreetMap and postcodes.io, described above, are independent services that your browser contacts directly when you use the store locator. Links to our social media pages and to Google Maps take you to those services, and their own privacy policies apply there. We may also disclose information where the law requires us to, or where it is needed to establish, exercise or defend legal claims.

Transfers outside the UK

Some of these providers are based in, or use systems in, other countries, including the European Economic Area and the United States. Where personal information leaves the UK, it is protected by UK adequacy regulations or by safeguards such as the UK International Data Transfer Agreement or the UK Addendum to the EU standard contractual clauses.

How long we keep it

  • Messages and emails: for as long as we need them to deal with your enquiry and any follow-up. If you become a customer or supplier, we keep our correspondence with you as part of our business records for as long as the law requires.
  • Newsletter: until you unsubscribe or ask us to take you off the list.
  • Analytics data: for the retention period set in our Google Analytics account, after which Google deletes it.
  • Your cookie choice: in your browser, until you clear it.

Your rights

Under UK data protection law you have the right to:

  • ask for a copy of the personal information we hold about you
  • ask us to correct information that is wrong or incomplete
  • ask us to delete your information
  • ask us to limit how we use it
  • object to our use of it where we rely on legitimate interests
  • ask for information you gave us to be passed to you or to another organisation, where that right applies
  • withdraw your consent at any time where we rely on it, without affecting anything we did before you withdrew it

To use any of these rights, email us at info@anjomanfood.com or write to us at the address above. We will reply within one month, and there is normally no charge.

Complaints

If you are unhappy with how we have handled your information, please tell us first so that we can try to put it right. You also have the right to complain to the Information Commissioner’s Office (ICO), the UK data protection regulator, at ico.org.uk/make-a-complaint or on 0303 123 1113.

Children

This website is not aimed at children, and we do not knowingly collect personal information from them.

Changes to this policy

We will update this page when the way we use personal information changes. The date at the top shows when it was last revised. Use of the website is also covered by our terms and conditions.
